Oh my goodness, folks—
Today is Tuesday, July 26th, 2022, publication day for The Book of Gothel in the United States! I can’t believe that you can now walk into a bookstore and purchase Haelewise’s book of deeds off the shelf!
One of the most magical things about writing a book is the way it calls people to you. I’ve met so many wonderful people over the last year, as we worked to bring Haelewise into the world. Writing a book is like a spell, summoning others who share your obsessions, your fascinations, your dreams. Haelewise has given me a gift. She’s introduced me to a witchy, wondrous group of bookish people, and my life is richer for your presence. It’s a gift to know you’re out there, obsessing over folklore and history, medieval manuscripts and herbalism too…
To celebrate launch week, I’ll be doing a book signing this Saturday, July 30, at Virginia Highland Books in Atlanta. If you’re in the area, drop by and say hello! If you’re not local and you want a personalized signed copy, you can order one through Virginia Highlands Books.
To everyone who has pre-ordered the novel already, I’m deeply grateful for your support. I’d love to thank you by sending you a free signed bookplate, bookmark, and recipe card. If you haven’t signed up to receive that mailing yet, the form doesn’t close until the end of the month.
Next week, I’m excited to be doing a virtual reading and chat on Thursday, August 4, in partnership with Malaprop’s Bookstore in North Carolina. They’ll be selling signed copies of Gothel in advance of and during the event!
After next week, I’ll probably be quieter online than I have been for a while, spending time with my newborn and working on my next project, which I’m excited to get back to.
Thank you, as always, for your support. Especially on launch week! If you can do anything to help me spread the word about Haelewise on Twitter and Instagram today, I’d appreciate it!
Until we meet again—
Mary
